Since box speakers can reproduce the full spectrum of audio frequencies but driver units cannot reproduce very low frequencies ,the switch should be positioned to the driver unit side when Driver units side when Driver Units Horns and Column speakers are connected. To Safeguard the amplifier against overload and short circuit the device is there to protect the circuit. Along with it protection provided against reverse polarity Battery connections.
